Euroleague Basketball, the organizer of top European club competitions, has extended its media rights tie-up in Israel with the Sports Channel for the next six years.
Through a deal unveiled today and brokered by heavyweight sports marketing agency IMG (Euroleague Basketball's strategic partner), the Sports Channel will continue as the exclusive Israeli home of EuroLeague basketball through the 2030-31 campaign.
The deal entails the broadcaster continuing to air all EuroLeague games live, including the end-of-season Play-In Showdown, Playoffs, and Final Four events.
Sports Channel has been a EuroLeague broadcast partner since 2016, with its current deal running through the ongoing 2024-25 campaign.
Israeli teams to have been involved in EuroLeague competitions over recent years include Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv (earlier this month, crowned champions of the 2025 EuroCup).
Paulius Motiejunas, EuroLeague Basketball's chief executive, said: "Israel is a traditional basketball market with an outstanding and loyal fanbase that deserves the best possible coverage of EuroLeague action. Since 2016, the Sports Channel has consistently delivered a world-class broadcast product—and we look forward to continuing this partnership through 2031.”
This deal has been unveiled with the 2024-25 EuroLeague at the Play-In stage, in which four teams battle it out to decide which one will take part in the end-of-season playoffs.
IMG and Euroleague Basketball have had a commercial rights distribution and broadcast production partnership in place since 2016 (at which point a joint venture was launched), and in January extended that deal through the 2035-36 season.
Euroleague Basketball’s media rights activity last year included the extension of deals in Italy with Sky Italia and DAZN.
2024 also saw the body enter into a partnership with WSC Sports, the Israel-based sports video content provider.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, the EuroLeague Basketball board of directors released a statement in opposition to the proposed European expansion from the US’ National Basketball Association.
In terms of rights to other top-tier basketball properties in Israel, the Sports Channel also has a deal in place covering the NBA, dating back to 2020.
