Grand Slam Track, the new high-profile athletics league established by American track legend Michael Johnson, has partnered with the international sports and data technology provider Stats Perform.
Through a deal unveiled yesterday, Stats Perform becomes the exclusive global data and betting rights distributor and integrity partner for the new-look athletics competition, ahead of its inaugural 2025 season.
This represents a rare foray into athletics for Stats Perform and a rare betting rights tie-up across the sport in general.
The inaugural Grand Slam Track meet will take place across April 4-6 in Kingston, Jamaica, with following US meets in Miami, (May 2-4) and Philadelphia, (May 30-June 1), before the season finale in Los Angeles, from June 27-29.
Meets will be broadcast live on both linear and streaming channels, as well as via licensed betting sportsbooks.
Grand Slam Track’s US broadcast partners next season will be media giant NBCUniversal, and national network The CW.
The CW becomes the exclusive linear broadcast home of Grand Slam Track, while Peacock, the NBCU-owned OTT streaming service, becomes the series’ exclusive US streaming home, with the linear NBC channel to air a mid-season highlights show on May 10.
Grand Slam Track, launched as a concept last June, offers each athlete the chance to win total prize money of $400,000 throughout a season.
The format will have a prize fund of $12.6 million split over four events.
Stats Perform’s highest-profile recent rights acquisition, meanwhile, came late last year, when the firm expanded its data partnership with the Saudi Pro League (SPL) soccer competition.
