Formula E, the all-electric single-seater motor racing championship, claims to have secured record TV audience growth during its 2023-24 campaign.

The series grew its global cumulative TV viewership by 35% during its 10th season (which ended in London in mid-July), to 491 million worldwide.

In addition, the Monaco e-Prix on April 27 delivered the largest-ever race audience in history for Formula E, bringing in 40 million viewers.

In total, six races across the series’ 10th season outperformed the most viewed race from season nine, which had a global audience of 31 million.

For Formula E's social media following, meanwhile, that overall sector saw a 20% growth, with 147% growth in video views across its owned and operated platforms (social media, web, and app).

Overall, Formula E has claimed that last season saw a 23% growth in the number of fans globally, to 374 million (on average).

The 2024-25 Formula E season begins in Brazil on December 7, with 17 races across 11 locations taking place in total. The campaign will end in London next July.

The 11th season will feature a return to Miami, US, for the first time since season one in an all-new location – the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

In June, Liberty Global increased its stake in Formula E to a controlling 65% by snapping up shares held by media and entertainment Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).

The deal, which still needs to pass through the usual regulatory approvals, will leave the remaining 35% of the series – now into its 10th season – under the control of various minority shareholders. Approval is expected by the end of 2024.
