International basketball’s governing body FIBA has announced a new digital partnership with ScorePlay, a provider of AI-powered digital and media asset management solutions in sports.

The focus of the multi-year strategic partnership will be on enhancing digital workflows by automating indexation, management, and distribution of digital assets for basketball entities.

The parties claim this will “create value for players, national federations, leagues, and clubs by assisting them in saving time, unlocking creative possibilities, and leveraging media to engage fans and generate revenue.”

Portugal-based ScorePlay has been working to develop basketball-specific tools focused on photos and videos to streamline media workflows and improve content distribution across all stakeholders.

FIBA is using ScorePlay's solutions to serve its broadcast and digital partners and deliver all non-live additional content, as well as its archive library via a customized portal.

Andreas Zagklis, FIBA secretary general, has said: “Teaming up with ScorePlay aligns perfectly with our strategic objective of innovation and sustainability, and this partnership confirms basketball's position as a progressive and forward-thinking sport.
