The EPCR governing body and organizer of the European Rugby Champions Cup and the EPCR Challenge Cup major club rugby union tournaments, and digital collectible company LegendaryPlays, have announced a digital collectible collaboration.
The partnership will allow fans globally to build and trade officially licensed digital video moments and to access real-life fan experiences. The digital video moments are available at different levels of supply, with some presented as 'limited edition' in order to encourage rapid increases in sales prices.
The deal adds the EPCR’s top-tier Champions Cup and second-tier Challenge Cup to LegendaryPlays’ existing partner roster – consisting of the United Rugby Championship, and France's Top 14 (of which it is a sponsor this season) and Pro D2 second division.
EPCR’s chief executive Jacques Raynaud said: "We are hugely excited to bring further innovation into EPCR’s competitions through this partnership with LegendaryPlays, delivering our first-ever digital collections.
"Through working with LegendaryPlays, we will be able to broaden the appeal of our competitions to a global, digital fanbase with a partner who is a leader in this space, already working with two of our three leagues."
Philippe Février, chief executive and founder of LegendaryPlays, added: "We're proud to announce a strategic partnership with European Professional Club Rugby, introducing EPCR video collectibles on LegendaryPlays.
