EMG/Gravity Media, the international broadcast facilities provider, will produce live coverage of the upcoming qualifiers for the Billie Jean King Cup women’s national teams tennis competition, for broadcasters in Australia and the Netherlands.

The events, running from April 10 to 12, will take place at the Pat Rafter Arena in Brisbane, Australia, and the Sportcampus Zuiderpark in The Hague, the Netherlands.

The company will deploy 11 cameras and an outside broadcast truck at the Pat Rafter Arena to produce the live feed for audiences in Australia and across the world, while the team based in the Netherlands will be on-site at the Sportcampus Zuiderpark to capture live games for domestic broadcaster Ziggo Sport.

The event will be aired on commercial broadcaster Nine Network in Australia.

EMG/Gravity Media will collaborate with the Tennis Australia governing body and Dutch production company Southfields to produce the live broadcast of the event, with the company gaining host broadcast rights from Tennis Australia for the Australia qualifiers.

EMG/Gravity Media previously delivered coverage of the Australian Open grand slam and the United Cup annual mixed-gender national teams tournament, as part of its growing partnership with Tennis Australia.

Kevin Vandoorne, Tennis Australia’s broadcast and media technical manager, has said: “This partnership, which began in 2015, has proven to be incredibly positive and continues to grow and strengthen each year.

“It serves as a strong foundation for all our other endeavors, and we have complete confidence that it will continue to underpin both our live and non-live content creation.”

The company has also had partnerships with the International Tennis Federation, the men’s ATP Media, and women’s WTA covering all formats of competitions, including the men’s Davis Cup national teams competition, the Fed Cup, the ATP Cup, and WTA Tour Championships.

It has also been a long-term provider of equipment and crew for the ATP 1000 Masters series and ATP World Tour Finals and supported all four grand slam tournaments, including multi-year contracts at the Australian, US, and French Opens.

EMG Group and Gravity Media combined last year to create “one of the world’s largest and most significant broadcast technology and production companies.”

At the time, the two companies said the combined business would have “significant global capability”, including more than 100 outside broadcast trucks and fly packs, as well as 40 studios and production facilities across Europe, the Middle East, the United States, and Australia, which will be part of the new global business.

The Billie Jean King Cup was rebranded from its previous incarnation, the Fed Cup, in 2020.

In August 2023, TWG Global, the holding company of billionaire businessman Mark Walter, secured a 49% stake in the tournament.

The TWG investment saw the firm acquire 49% of a newly created commercial entity called Billie Jean King Cup Limited, with the new venture set up to sell sponsorship, broadcast, and other commercial rights to the competition alongside Billie Jean King Enterprises, the investment vehicle focused on women’s sports founded by King and led by her wife Ilana Kloss.
