Logistics heavyweight DP World has signed up as a major commercial partner of South African domestic cricket’s SA20 franchise competition.

A strategic partnership between the SA20’s leadership and DP World was unveiled yesterday, through which the firm becomes the competition’s global logistics partner for its third season, beginning on January 9.

Through that designation, DP World – which in terms of cricket sponsorships is already the title partner of the Johannesburg venue where the SA20’s final will take place – will aim to provide smart logistics solutions “to support the efficient and successful delivery” of the six-team Twenty20 tournament.

DP World is the title partner of the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, where the 2025 SA20 (the competition’s third edition) will conclude on February 8, through a deal announced in October 2022.

Elsewhere in cricket, the brand also has an agreement with the governing International Cricket Council, a premier partnership running through 2027 that GlobalData Sport has valued at $10 million annually.

Across other sports, meanwhile, the brand has also tied up with properties such as the McLaren Formula One motor racing team, golf’s Ryder Cup, and sailing’s SailGP (announced earlier this month). In addition, it is the title partner of golf’s European Tour (now called the DP World Tour).

In terms of other SA20 commercial partners, betting brand Betway holds title sponsorship rights through a deal unveiled before the competition’s inaugural edition, in December 2022.

The franchise league's other sponsors include Dream11, Zoho, and Thomas Lyte.
