The Disney+ streaming service has secured exclusive rights to TGL, the tech-infused golf league founded by icons Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports entertainment venture, in the Nordics.

Through the agreement, which covers the 2025 and 2026 seasons, the platform will provide live-streaming coverage of every match of the league's inaugural season.

Disney+ will air TGL action in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland and will be included as part of customers’ subscriptions.

The OTT platform will show 15 live-streamed matches, the semi-finals, and the best-of-three finals each season.

The first match will take place on January 7, 2025, at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It will feature Swedish PGA Tour star Ludvig Åberg’s team, The Bay Golf Club, taking on New York Golf Club.

In the US, TGL will be shown on Disney-owned ESPN and ESPN+.

Other international media partnerships include Fox Sports in Australia, Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ in Canada, U-Next in Japan, and JTBC/Phoenix Sports International in South Korea.

TGL expects to announce additional international media partners "in the coming weeks."

The league is set to make its long-awaited debut with initial plans to begin in 2024 having been scrapped due to storm damage to the host venue.

It will feature six teams of PGA Tour stars competing in a season-long competition from January through March.

Hans van Rijn, senior vice president and country manager of The Walt Disney Company in the Nordics & Baltics, said: “TGL represents an entirely new way of presenting golf and will bring Disney+ viewers closer to some of the greatest PGA Tour stars than ever before.

“We are looking forward to working together with TGL and our ESPN colleagues in bringing this new exclusive experience to our Nordic audiences.

Mike McCarley, CEO and founder of TMRW Sports and TGL, added: “Adding Disney+ as our partner in the Nordics is a significant next step as we expand TGL’s international reach.

“Golf is truly a global game, and the avid golf fans across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland can relate to the benefits of tech-infused golf with their short season and long winters.”
