Media and entertainment heavyweight Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has today unveiled a content partnership covering the Paris 2024 Olympics with video sharing platform YouTube.

Through the deal, several well-known YouTube personalities and creators will be based in Paris during the games, which will run between July 26 and August 11 and will be covered by WBD platforms across almost all of Europe.

They will capture content from unique in-stadium positions, as well as from the various iconic Parisian landmarks and at WBD’s headquarters. There will also be video diaries from elsewhere in the French capital. The aim is to “explore the sporting action and the colorful Olympic culture on display.”

This deal follows a similar tie-up between Discovery and YouTube for the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, before Discovery’s merger with Warner Bros.

In addition to this creator content, fans can watch live streams of both the opening and closing ceremonies on the Eurosport YouTube channel and highlights and original features in multiple languages.

Scott Young, group senior vice president of content, production, and business operations at WBD Sports Europe, said: “Partnering with YouTube and its network of content creators presents a new opportunity to further expand our Olympic storytelling while enhancing our live coverage in the process.”

Earlier this month, WBD unveiled a similar expansion with social media platform Snapchat for another two years.

Pan-European broadcaster Eurosport will showcase a selection of daily top highlights on Snapchat throughout the games to add variety to its coverage of the quadrennial sporting showcase.

In late June, meanwhile, WBD announced tech giant Samsung as the presenting partner for its coverage of the Paris games.

The original tie-up between Discovery and the International Olympic Committee dates back to 2015, with the deal lasting through Paris 2024.

Indeed, through a joint bid with the European Broadcasting Union, WBD has also snapped up rights to the next Olympic cycle, covering events between 2026 and 2032.
