TVP, the Polish public-service broadcaster, has today unveiled a new four-year rights deal with the Polish Football Association (PZPN).

The tie-up covers the Polish Cup and Polish Super Cup competitions, the women’s top-tier Orlen Ekstraliga, the final of the Orlen Polish Cup, as well as the second and third-tier I Liga and II Liga men’s leagues, until 2027.

In total during the length of the contract, TVP will air 99 Polish Cup games, 66 from the Orlen Ekstraliga, and around 1,500 between the I Liga and II Liga.

In addition, the deal covers some games played by the senior and Under-19 women’s national teams, the various youth men’s national teams, as well as the national futsal team.

Action involving the men’s senior team in multiple competitions, meanwhile, is already shown by TVP through a deal stretching across the 2022-28 cycle of UEFA European soccer competitions, unveiled in early 2021.

PZPN’s president Cezary Kuleska said: “Thanks to the agreement with Telewizja Polska, both men’s, women’s, and youth games will reach a wide audience. We are very happy that cooperation with such a large entity as Telewizja Polska will last for three seasons.”

Mateusz Matyszkowicz, president of the VP management board, added: "Football is Poles’ favorite sport. We identify with our teams and regardless of what league they play in, for us, they are the best in the world. The ambition of public television is to provide access to as many Polish competitions as possible on a free channel. The whole of Poland will be able to see their teams only on Polish television.”

TVP will be able to show these games on linear TV, online, through mobile apps, and via Smart TVs.

The public-service network will now receive the title of main television partner “for all competitions included in the agreement,” while its logos will be displayed “in advertising materials, on websites, sports facilities, and tickets.”

In addition to the live coverage provided by TVP, individual clubs in the competitions listed above, or the PZPN itself, will be allowed to broadcast matches not included in the TVP deal, as well as distribute them amongst local networks.
