Sportsnet, the Canadian Rogers Media-owned sports broadcaster, has been unveiled as the domestic rights-holder of TGL, the tech-infused golf league founded by icons Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports entertainment venture.

As part of the deal, Sportsnet will air every match of the season-long competition, whose inaugural season debuts on January 7, 2025, in a prime-time slot.

Currently, there are no Canadian teams in TGL, however, Sportsnet claims that “there have been discussions with a variety of Canadian partners about potential expansion opportunities in the future.”

Greg Sansone, president of Sportsnet, said: “Combining the biggest names in golf with a unique format in prime time makes this an outstanding broadcast property.”

The league’s inaugural season is set to be shown on ESPN and ESPN+ in the US, with initial plans to begin in 2024 having been scrapped due to storm damage to the host venue.

TGL will feature six teams, with home markets in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Florida.
