Sport TV, the Portuguese pay-TV operator and dominant domestic rightsholder, has launched a tender process for the international rights to domestic soccer’s top-flight Primeira Liga for the next three seasons.
The tender covers the 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 campaigns.
Sport TV is the league’s exclusive distributor of international media rights for that three-year period.
Interested parties must submit bids by 12:00 (CET) on February 28, and bids should be sent by email as a PDF document to Nuno Ferreira at mediarights.bid@sporttv.pt.
Rights on offer include live coverage of every single Primeira Liga match in each of the next three seasons, as well as highlights of each matchday.
The highlights broadcasts (34 per season) will feature three to five minutes of each match played during the official round date.

By GlobalDataFor every round of fixtures, Sport TV will make available all matches played across the Friday to Monday scheduling, with international audio and information graphics.
The broadcaster is permitted to sub-license one Primeira Liga game per round to be broadcast solely in Portuguese language to the international services of Portuguese networks such as public-service broadcaster RTP, free-to-air commercial duo TVI and SIC, and Benfica's in-house cable and satellite channel BTV.
Sport TV also reserves the right to air the Primeira Liga matches on pay-per-view only in Portuguese through its official app, while it will retain the non-exclusive right to sub-license clips of matches provided that such clips shall not exceed three minutes per match.
In terms of betting, gambling, and gaming rights, Sport TV can use and/or license broadcasts to third parties.
Sport TV said it will select the successful bids “at its own discretion”, with the fee offered for the rights, the proposed exposure, and the financial security among the main factors it will evaluate.
The broadcaster may launch a second round of the tender if it feels initial offers do not meet its criteria. After each round, Sport TV may then proceed to enter into private negotiations with selected bidders.
Domestically, Sport TV broadcasts the home matches of all Primeira Liga sides, with the exception of Benfica, whose games are shown by BTV, distributed by the NOS platform.
The Primeira Liga’s international rights were previously sold by sports marketing agency Sportfive.
