ServusTV, the German-language free-to-air (FTA) broadcaster, will continue to broadcast high-profile matches during the French Open grand slam tennis tournament across Austria after striking a two-year sublicensing deal with rightsholder Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).
The deal, similar to the one struck last year, will see ServusTV Austria air one top game per day on both its linear channel and ServusTV On streaming platform during the 2023 and 2024 editions of the tournament. It will also show live coverage of the men’s and women’s semi-finals and finals.
WBD holds the rights to the clay-court grand slam in more than 50 territories across Europe after acquiring pan-European pay-television broadcaster Eurosport, which struck a five-year agreement in 2021 running through 2026.
That deal, which does not include France, extended the relationship between Eurosport and the tournament for more than 35 years, with the broadcaster having shown every Roland-Garros tournament since 1989.
ServusTV is currently covering the Australian Open grand slam, which started on Monday (January 16) and will finish on January 29. Under a sublicensing deal with WBD, it is airing one live match per day on its linear channel and ServusTV On. It will also show live coverage of the men’s semi-finals and final and the women’s final.
The sport has gained attention in Austria following the success of Austrian player Dominic Thiem, who reached the final of the French Open in 2018 and 2019. He then reached the final of the Australian Open in 2020 before winning the US Open in the same year.

The rights add to ServusTV’s growing portfolio of sports rights that includes rights in Austria for motor racing’s Formula 1 until the end of the 2026 season, motorcycling’s MotoGP, the Superbike World Championship, the World Rally Championship, the World Endurance Championships, Germany’s DTM series, World Rallycross, the Hard Enduro World Championships, and the 24H Series.
Last year, it also snapped up rights to the controversial LIV Golf series, the Saudi-backed venture that held its first event last year.
