England’s Rugby Football Union (RFU) governing body has appointed brand marketing agency Ten Toes to manage the social media channels of the Red Roses women’s national team ahead of their participation in this year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup.

The new role builds on Ten Toes’ partnership with England Rugby, which started in September 2023, which sees the firm provide strategic guidance and support for the governing body’s digital channels.

The expansion will see Ten Toes given responsibility of promoting the Red Roses’ story in the build up to the tournament through community engagement, content ideation, and data-led reporting and insights.

Tom Biggs, Ten Toes’ content strategy director, said:” We’re delighted to be expanding our scope with England Rugby ahead of an incredibly exciting year for the Red Roses.

“With the Rugby Women’s World Cup in England this year, we recognize the significant responsibility that comes with the management of these channels, and we are thrilled that England Rugby have put their trust in us and the excellent team we have here at Ten Toes.”

The Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 is being hosted by England and will kick off on August 22 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. The tournament will be held across eight venues across the country before ending at London’s Twickenham stadium on September 27.

The tenth edition will have 16 teams competing in 32 matches in 8 venues across England.

England was awarded preferred candidate status by World Rugby in November 2021, before being confirmed as the event host in May 2022.

Nabil Hassan, England Rugby’s head of content, said: “Ten Toes have been working with us over the past 18 months providing channel management, community engagement and strategic support around our content output. In that time, we have achieved record growth and engagement across our England Rugby channels.

“Ahead of the biggest year for women’s rugby with a world cup on home soil we know their support on our Red Roses channels will help us engage new audiences and elevate the stories of our players and help us maximize the opportunity to inspire the next generation.”

The announcement comes two weeks after Ten Toes was appointed by the high-profile Matchroom Boxing events promotion to lead its digital media strategy.

As the promotion’s lead digital media agency, Ten Toes will implement a new digital media content strategy to grow Matchroom’s online presence and expand its fanbase, through branded content featuring both new and existing partners.
