Premier Sports, the UK pay-TV sports broadcaster, has picked up domestic rights to the latter stages of Spanish soccer’s Copa del Rey knockout cup competition.
Through a deal with the RFEF, the Spanish soccer body, the operator will provide live and exclusive coverage of the upcoming semi-finals and the final.
The first semi-final will see Barcelona play Atletico Madrid in the first leg on Tuesday (February 25), with Real Madrid facing Real Sociedad the following day. The second legs will be played on April 1 and 2, while the final will be on April 26 at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville.
The earlier rounds of the Copa del Rey were not broadcast in the UK with broadcasters opting to pick up the latter stages in recent years.
Over the past few years, the competition has been shown by Premier Sports (2020-2022) and pay-TV giant TNT Sports (2023 and 2024).
The deal expands Premier Sports’ offering of Spanish soccer in the UK as it also holds exclusive rights to the top-flight LaLiga.
However, the broadcaster’s current agreement expires at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Premier Sports’ rights portfolio in the UK and Republic of Ireland also includes the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup, the United Rugby Championship, Champions Cup, EPCR Challenge Cup, Top 14 (rugby), NHL ice hockey, and the Nascar stock car racing series.
In the Republic of Ireland, Premier Sports has exclusive rights to a Saturday 3pm English Premier League fixture from every round, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League club competitions.
