Australian commercial broadcaster Nine Entertainment has exclusively secured a broadcast deal with the women’s rugby league's State of Origin series from 2024.

The deal will see every State of Origin fixture being shown live and for free on the 9Network until 2027.

The men’s series was the most-watched live-streaming event in Australian history and attracted its biggest audience in three years in 2022.

The 2024 Women’s State of Origin will be played over three games for the first time in its history, starting during prime time ahead of the men’s Magic Round, with matches two and three to be played on Thursday nights following the opening two men’s games.

Additionally, Nine’s Wide World of Sports will show every match of the 2024 NRLW competition live and free, as well as on its streaming platform 9Now.

Nine chief executive Mike Sneesby said: “Women’s rugby league continues to flourish and we’re thrilled to showcase the pinnacle of the code, State of Origin, with exclusive, live and free coverage here on Nine all the way through 2027.”
