US national network NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2023-24 Premier League season delivered the largest average audience for English soccer’s top-tier in US media history across its main NBC channel, the Peacock streaming service, and the USA Network.

The season, which concluded last Sunday (May 19), averaged a total audience delivery (TAD) of 546,000 viewers per TV match window on NBC Sports, making it the most-watched Premier League season of all time in the US.

It also marks an increase of 4% over last season’s 527,000. The previous record was 541,000 set in the 2015-16 season.

The season-ending Championship Sunday coverage, featuring all 10 matches simultaneously broadcast across Peacock, NBC, USA Network, CNBC, Golf Channel, NBC Sports Digital, Telemundo, and Universo, averaged a TAD of 2.9 million viewers, making it the most-watched final day of the season in the US.

The previous most-watched Championship Sunday was in 2022, with 2.7 million viewers across all platforms.

This season also marked the first time the Peacock streaming service exceeded 1 million viewers for a Premier League match, reaching an average minute audience of 1.15 million for Arsenal’s match against Liverpool on February 4.

The service exceeded 1 million viewers again just over a month later on March 5, when Manchester City played Manchester United, hitting 1.10 million viewers.

Eight matches exclusive to Peacock averaged at least 800,000 viewers, quadrupling last season's amount.

Meanwhile, six of the seven most-watched Premier League matches in US history were broadcast in the 2023-24 season, including the first English-language match to top 2 million viewers, which was Manchester City versus Arsenal’s 2.12 million viewers on March 31.

Peacock viewers streamed 28% more live minutes of Premier League matches this season compared to last.

The Spanish-language Telemundo broadcast network averaged 244,000 viewers per match, its most-watched season since 2014-15, and an increase of 11% compared to last season’s 220,000 viewers.

Elsewhere, the NBC Sports Soccer accounts across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram had video views increase by 122% compared to last year, and engagement increased by 79%.

For the second consecutive season, the NBC Sports YouTube channel had over 200 million views and 1.4 billion minutes watched.

The 2024-25 Premier League season will begin on the weekend of August 17-18, to be shown in the US on the networks of NBCUniversal and Peacock.

NBC and Peacock hold EPL rights through 2027-28 and are forking out $2.69 billion over six seasons (the tie-up began in 2022-23) under that deal.
