Mediapro, the prominent Spanish media group, has agreed a four-year alliance with World Skate to help develop and market the federation's disciplines worldwide.
The appointment comes ahead of skateboard making its Olympics debut at this year's games in Tokyo.
Under the partnership announced today, Mediapro will be responsible for the implementation, development and marketing of the principal World Skate events internationally for the next four years.
This includes the commercialisation of audiovisual rights to the competitions, building on the company's experience in various other sports, notably soccer.
Mediapro and World Skate will also collaborate to raise the profile of the events, with the aim of attracting young audiences for popular disciplines such as skateboard and scooter.
Sabatino Aracu, president of World Skate, said on Thursday: “This is a very important year for our federation and we are very excited to have signed a new international agreement with Mediapro. They have a significant global reach and will help us ensure that our major competitions are available to fans globally.”
