Mediapro, the Spanish sports media rights and production agency, has partnered with Great Point Studios, a media firm specializing in film and TV infrastructure, to create a new joint venture offering full production services for the film and television industries.
The company, Phygital FX, has launched in the US, with the goal of expanding globally, and will be led by Mediapro’s head of sales and marketing Mario Sousa as chief executive.
It will initially focus on providing full production services to meet the growing demand of the streaming industry, from stage, studio, and equipment rental to virtual production services, graphics, and post-production services.
Irantuze Diez-Gamoba, chief executive of Mediapro North America, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Great Point Studios to develop a new venture that will provide unique and state-of-the-art services to the film and TV industry in the US and the new markets we will explore.”
Sousa added: “I am excited that producers, directors, and all creative artists and crews will finally have a one-stop shop in Phygital FX, where they can find all the varied services they require to make compelling series and films.”
Mediapro is a major player in the Spanish sports rights industry. It holds the contract to distribute the international rights of Spanish soccer’s top-tier LaLiga until 2028-29 after striking a five-year agreement in May.

By GlobalDataThat agreement adds to Mediapro’s involvement with LaLiga, which includes a deal for free-to-air rights in Spain running from 2022-23 to 2024-25. That deal, worth slightly less than €14 million, sees the agency air one match per week on its sports channel Gol, as well as highlights.
The agency also distributes international rights for tournaments and competitions organized by Concacaf, soccer’s governing body across North and Central America and the Caribbean in 2023 and 2024 and has been hired by South American soccer confederation Conmebol to provide Video Assistant Referee (VAR) services for its club competitions through 2026
Away from soccer, Mediapro served as the host broadcaster for the 2023 European Games quadrennial multi-sport event in Poland earlier this year. The agency was previously appointed host broadcaster for the 2019 Pan American Games and also served as the principal audiovisual supplier of the Mediterranean Games last year.
