The Brazilian soccer clubs which form part of the Liga Forte União (LFU) collective grouping are reportedly close to signing a domestic broadcast rights deal with free-to-air network Record.

The 31 clubs across the country’s top soccer divisions that comprise the LFU are assessing an offer worth R$2.8 billion ($494.9 million) across five seasons (2025 through 2029), according to Brazilian media.

This would cover one match per round, (hosted by one of the LFU sides) across a 38-week season, it has been reported. This equates to R$560 million annually, for one match from each gameweek.

This deal would explain why the LFU sides rejected an offer from SBT last week, worth $2.6 billion, resulting in SBT withdrawing from the process altogether.

The LFU is one of two groups of Brazilian teams that have banded together to sell their TV rights ahead of the 2025 season.

In March, the clubs from the other collective – Libra – sold their rights until the end of the 2029 campaign to Globo, the Brazilian heavyweight broadcaster.

The partnership covers exclusive rights – across free-to-air, pay-TV, and streaming – to the home games of Serie A teams Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo, Santos, Atlético-MG, Grêmio, Vitória, Bahia, and Red Bull Bragantino.

It has been reported that Globo will be paying R$1.17 billion annually between these sides, with the all-encompassing current broadcast rights deal for Serie A action (involving all teams) expiring at the end of the ongoing 2024 campaign.
