The Brazilian heavyweight broadcaster Globo has renewed its rights agreement with the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) governing body to show multiple top-tier men’s and women’s competitions.

The package includes rights to show the Supercopa do Brasil, women’s top-tier Brasileirão Feminino, the under-20 and under-17 age-group youth tournaments, as well as friendlies of the Brazilian women’s national team, across the TV Globo commercial network and Sportv pay-TV network.

The renewal builds on a previous rights deal struck between Globo and the CBF in January 2022.

As part of the deal, Globo has already aired the Supercopa do Brasil between March 7 and 15.

The women’s competitions section of the agreement includes Globo broadcasting friendlies played by the Brazilian women’s national team in the run-up to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with Sportv covering 12 games exclusively and Globo showing four.

The broadcaster previously held rights to air the 2023 WWC hosted by Australia, and the 2019 edition, staged in France.

In the case of Brasileirão Feminino, the broadcaster will air 10 matches on TV Globo starting from the quarterfinals, while SportV will cover 44 matches throughout the competition. Globo has aired Brasileirão Feminino matches since 2022.

The package also includes Globo giving coverage to the Brazilian Women’s Football Championship club competition on SporTV, as well as the under-20 and under-17 age-group youth tournaments, totaling 61 games per season.

CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues has said: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Globo, which is part of the CBF’s strategy to further grow women’s football in the country.

“The visibility of Globo’s screens will also help to broadly transform the clubs and the women’s football product as a whole.”

Brazil was first announced as the host for the 2027 WWC in May 2024, and the country will be the first in South America to stage the event. Twelve venues are set to be used for the tournament, which will include 32 teams.
