Globo, the Brazilian heavyweight commercial broadcaster, has secured domestic rights to soccer’s upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
The deal was brokered on behalf of FIFA by LiveMode, the Brazilian sports marketing agency which recently agreed a deal with the governing body to sell broadcast rights in the country for some of its competitions.
All matches will be broadcast on Globo as well as its pay-television network Sportv and Globoplay streaming service.
This year’s Club World Cup will be played in Morocco between February 1 and 11 and will feature a Brazilian representative in the form of Flamengo, winners of the Copa Libertadores South American club competition.
Flamengo have won the Club World Cup on one previous occasion in 1981.
Spanish giants Real Madrid will be the European representatives as the UEFA Champions League holders and have several Brazilian international players in their ranks, including Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Eder Militao.

It was officially announced yesterday (January 16) that LiveMode had agreed a partnership with FIFA to sell broadcast rights in Brazil for its events in 2023 and 2024, having already been reported by Brazilian media.
As well as the Club World Cup, the deal covers this year's highly anticipated Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand (July 20 to August 20).
In December, LiveMode appointed Felipe Aquilino to the role of head of media rights, with him having held the same position at the FC Diez Media agency.
FIFA is making major efforts to grow the Club World Cup, with its president Gianni Infantino recently announcing that the competition will be expanded to 32 teams in 2025 and be played as an end-of-season tournament in the summer.
Meanwhile, Globo has also snapped up exclusive domestic rights to the 2023 Supercopa do Brasil (Brazilian Super Cup), which will take place on January 28.
The annual Supercopa, between the winners of the top-flight Serie A league and the Copa do Brasil knockout competition, will this year see Flamengo face Palmeiras.
The game will be shown on the main Globo linear channel and SporTV.
The tie-up represents an extension, with the commercial broadcaster having also covered the 2022 edition of the match, which Flamengo lost on penalties to Atletico Mineiro.
Last week, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced the game would be held in the country’s capital, Brasilia.
The Supercopa has been held in its current form annually since 2020.
