Sports and media technology firm Genius Sports and Canadian football’s CFL competition have unveiled a new partnership with the country’s TSN broadcaster to transform its coverage of the league.
Through the deal, Genius Sports will apply its augmented feed solutions to TSN live streams of CFL games to engage viewers.
The partnership will be inaugurated tomorrow (June 20) in the week three fixture between the Ottawa Redblacks and the Montreal Alouettes.
TSN is the CFL’s exclusive broadcaster and the fixture, the league’s first with Genius augmented livestream solutions, will be aired on the TSN+ OTT service.
Every CFL game from the regular season, post-season playoffs, and the season-ending Grey Cup championship game, will be available as enhanced broadcasts on TSN+.
The live streams will overlay game data accumulated by Genius Sports onto broadcasts, with fast provision of statistics and enhanced field visualizations added to broadcasts, alongside an enhanced dynamic scoreboard.

By GlobalDataGenius also directly engages the CFL in the wide-ranging tie-up through the enhancement of its own website offerings, including enhanced statistics in player bios and a revamped CFL Game Zone sector with upgraded user interfaces and user information to strengthen the CFL’s fantasy gaming offerings.
Genius Sports already provides similar augmented broadcasts for American football’s NFL on TSN+ courtesy of a deal agreed in January 2023, with this latest CFL tie-up expanding the links between Genius’s slate of broadcast solutions and TSN, an ESPN and Bel Media joint venture.
Speaking on the partnership, Genius Sports chief partnership officer Steven Burton stated: “We’re excited to begin a new era of CFL broadcasts through the creation of live stats-enhanced viewing experiences in partnership with TSN.
“These new insights will be delivered in real-time, bringing audiences closer to the live action through data-rich broadcast augmentations that enable CFL fans to immerse themselves in every play.”
