The Fox Corp US media giant has revealed that its broadcast coverage of the 2025 Super Bowl 59 showpiece game was the most-watched edition of the fixture on record.
The February 9 fixture, a one-sided 40-22 victory by the Philadelphia Eagles over the Kansas City Chiefs, was watched by an average of 126 million viewers across Fox’s main linear channel, its Fox Deportes Spanish-language sports channel, the Fox-owned streaming service Tubi, Spanish-language terrestrial channel Telemundo (which partnered with Fox Deportes to show the game), and on the NFL’s digital distribution platforms.
Peaking at 135.7 million viewers in the second quarter, the game outperformed the 2024 Super Bowl, which drew an average of 123.4 million viewers – the largest TV audience in US history at the time.
Tubi alone delivered 13.6 million viewers, and when factoring in the NFL’s streaming distribution a total of 14.5 million streamed the showpiece game, the highest streaming number for the Super Bowl in history.
The prospect of a historic Kansas City Chiefs three-peat versus a well-supported Eagles side looking to claim its second-ever Super Bowl title, as well as each team’s star-studded offense, meant the media interest in the game was typically high and the fans flocked to watch.
Good viewership performance was a necessity for Fox as due to the rotational nature of the game’s media rights it will not show the Super Bowl again until 2029.

By GlobalDataFurthermore, the broadcaster sold out of ad inventory well in advance of the showpiece fixture, making it a majorly lucrative event for Fox.
Despite its strong viewership, most would have predicted that Super Bowl 59 would not perform better than Super Bowl 58 as, although strong, NFL viewership across the 2024-25 campaign was down on the 2023-24 season that preceded 58.
While the AFC Championship Game, a marquee matchup by the Chiefs over the Buffalo Bills, drew record viewership, the Eagles’ NFC Championship victory, fell flat comparatively and was the least-watched of its ilk since 2020.
Given that the NFC Championship game was broadcast on Fox, and that Fox’s average NFL viewership across the 2024 season was down, and that nine of the 12 NFL playoff games fell year-on-year in terms of average viewership, it will have been a surprise to many (but a relief to Fox) that the big game managed to deliver a record number.
