ESPN, the major international sports broadcaster, has renewed its deal to show English soccer’s Premier League in the Caribbean for another three seasons.

The new agreement extends these rights for the 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28 campaigns, with multiplatform coverage on both linear and digital channels.

The extended deal will see all 380 Premier League matches broadcast each season exclusively on ESPN and the Disney+ streaming platform, with a selection of matches broadcast on linear channels.

Paul Molnar, chief media officer at the Premier League, has said: “We are delighted that ESPN has decided to extend its long-standing partnership with the Premier League for another three years.

“ESPN provides fans with outstanding coverage of the league through live match broadcasts and comprehensive programming, and we are excited to remain a central part of its live sports lineup.”

Michael Walters, vice president of programming and acquisitions at ESPN International, added: “The Premier League is one of the most renowned sports properties in the world and plays a key role in ESPN’s ongoing growth.”

ESPN initially snapped up Premier League rights in the Caribbean in September to cover the remainder of the 2024-25 season after pay-TV broadcaster VertiCast Media terminated its deal a year early.

VertiCast held rights to the English top-flight in the region through this season under a three-year contract but announced that it would not see out the final year of its contract just three days before the start of the campaign.

This meant rights in the region were up for grabs for the year and ESPN managed to strike a deal to show 350 matches of the 2024-25 season.

Notable Premier League players from the Caribbean include Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey (pictured), West Ham United’s Michail Antonio, Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock, and Bobby DeCordova-Reid of Leicester City, all representing the Jamaica national team.

In terms of recent Premier League broadcast rights activity, late January saw the heavyweight Infront agency extend free-to-air distribution rights to that property across sub-Saharan Africa, also through 2027-28.

Infront’s current Premier League media rights distribution tie-up in that region began in 2022-23 (with the deal announced in March 2021) and comes to an end after the ongoing 2024-25 season. GlobalData Sport has valued that agreement at $19.5 million in total.

December, meanwhile, saw deals disclosed in Poland (Canal Plus) and Vietnam (Astro) for the 2025-26 to 2027-28 cycle.
