Deutsche Telekom, the German media and telecoms giant, has acquired rights to the 2023 and 2025 editions of basketball’s FIBA Women’s EuroBasket, the biennial top-tier continental national teams competition.
Through an agreement with the sport’s international governing body FIBA, the operator will provide live and free-to-air coverage on its MagentaSport streaming platform.
MagentaSport will show all German games, the opening game, one top match per game day, as well as the semi-finals, third-place match, and the final.
The 2023 tournament, co-hosted by Slovenia and Israel, will be held between June 15 and June 25.
Germany's women have qualified for the EuroBasket for the first time in 12 years.
They will open their campaign on June 15 against France, with further group-stage games against Slovenia and Great Britain.

By GlobalDataThe EuroBasket deal bolsters MagentaSport’s basketball portfolio which includes rights to this summer’s FIBA men’s World Cup, all German national team matches, the domestic Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), and the EuroLeague and EuroCup club competitions.
However, from the 2023-24 season, BBL rights will switch to Dyn Media, the new streaming platform launched by publishing giant Axel Springer and Christian Seifert, former chief executive of the German Football League, after it outbid Deutsche Telekom last year.
Arnim Butzen, head of TV at Telekom, said: “Top international basketball is becoming more and more attractive for German fans and our customers.
“We see that in the remarkable development of viewership, especially in the EuroLeague. Our strategy of deliberately focusing on the top European leagues with strong German clubs is paying off.”
