The Confederation of African Football, soccer’s governing body on the continent, has issued an invitation to tender for host broadcast and TV services across selected events in 2022 and 2023, including its upcoming flagship event the African Cup of Nations.

The 52-match men's AFCON in Cameroon will take place from 9 January to 6 February next year across five venues.

The continent’s showpiece tournament was originally scheduled to take place in June and July 2021, but in June last year CAF confirmed a six-month delay to allow the coronavirus pandemic to subside across the region.

The majority of the local host broadcast solution is already in place as part of a broad agreement between CAF and the local organising committee, but the continental federation is seeking partners to complete the services across a range of fields including host broadcast production, satellite distribution, graphics and broadcaster coordination services.

Interested parties may place bids on all the services included, or just specific individual services.

In addition to the Africa Cup of Nations, the events featured in the tender include the 2022 African Nations Championship, the clubs’ CAF Champions League in 2021-22 and 2022-23 and both the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Super Cup.

The 2022 Women’s Cup of Nations and the Women’s CAF Champions League are also included in the package.

Media companies or organisations wishing to participate in the tender process can request the necessary documents via email by contacting TVServices@cafonline.com. Submissions to CAF must be received by 12pm Egyptian standard time on 15 November.

CAF said the tender process will allow it to select the companies that are “best placed to achieve CAF’s objectives of providing world-class coverage of the tournament and offering fans in Africa and internationally a high-quality viewing experience.”

Last month, CAF also opened the tender process for pay-television media rights in sub-Saharan Africa its top-tier club and national teams’ tournaments for the next two years.
