BT Sport, the UK pay-television broadcaster, has today secured exclusive domestic rights to Spanish soccer’s upcoming Supercopa de Espana (Super Cup).
The competition gets underway next week and features last season’s winners and runners-up of Spain’s top-flight La Liga and Copa del Rey knockout cup competition.

The four competing clubs are Atletico Madrid (LaLiga winners), Real Madrid (LaLiga runners-up), Barcelona (Copa del Rey winners), and Athletic Club (Copa del Rey runners-up).
BT Sport’s live coverage will begin with the ‘El Clasico’ encounter between arch-rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid in the first semi-final on January 12, followed by Atletico vs Athletic the following day. Both games will be on BT Sport 1.
It will then show the final between the two winners on January 16 on BT Sport 3.
This is the third iteration of the revamped Supercopa, which was switched to a mid-season final four format in January 2020.

By GlobalDataThis year’s edition will return to Saudi Arabia after the country agreed a three-year deal to stage the enlarged four-team competition.
All four games will take place at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
Saudi Arabia is believed to be paying a fee of around €30 million ($33.8 million) over three years to the RFEF to host the Supercopa.
The first edition of the revamped Supercopa was held in Jeddah in January 2020 but last year’s version took place in Spain due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The competition was traditionally a one-off, two-legged final between the league and cup winners at the start of the season.
Athletic are the holders of the Supercopa after beating Barcelona on penalties last year.
Rights to both LaLiga and the Copa del Rey in the UK are held by pay-TV operator Premier Sports.
