Boxxer, the UK boxing promotion, and Eastern European streaming service Megogo have signed a new media rights agreement in Ukraine.
The new deal allows viewers in the country to watch Boxxer’s boxing events live exclusively on Megogo’s streaming platform.
The deal will debut with Boxxer’s upcoming Resurgence event on April 20, headlined by Ben Whittaker’s rematch with Liam Cameron, at Birmingham’s BP Pulse Live arena. The event will air exclusively on Megogo in Ukraine.
It will be available with the Maximum, Sport, and Megopack XL Megogo subscriptions, meaning it will not be on the streamer’s free service.
Ben Shalom, founder and chief executive of Boxxer, added: “Megogo's footprint and subscriber base in the region is exceptionally strong, and they are perfectly positioned to showcase our events and fighters to audiences across the country.”
Megogo, which was launched in Kyiv in 2011, has live sports rights in the country to soccer’s UEFA club tournaments, La Liga, Ligue 1, and Serie A, as well as a number of combat sports.
Founded in 2018, Boxxer events air live and exclusively on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland, on NBC Sports in the US, BeTV in Belgium and Luxembourg, and StarTimes in sub-Saharan Africa, along with other deals bringing its coverage to over 150 territories globally.
In September, Sportcal (GlobalData Sport) spoke to Shalom about Boxxer's growth and the promotion's outlook.
