BeIN Sports, the international pay-television broadcaster, has secured coverage rights in the US, Canada and a range of countries in the Middle East and North Africa to the inaugural Collins Cup triathlon event.
BeIN, which will screen the first Collins Cup live from Bratislava, Slovakia, on 28 August, has secured rights through a deal with the athlete-backed Professional Triathletes Organisation, which is organising the event.
It will offer both live and on-demand coverage, as part of its multi-regional deal that will see the entire seven-hour Collins Cup broadcast be shown on BeIN across 24 countries in MENA, as well as the US and Canada.
Modelled on the Ryder Cup and designed to be “broadcast-friendly”, the Collins Cup will be contested by teams of international, European and US athletes in Samorín, Slovakia in late August.
The Qatar-based international broadcaster will also produce an hour-long highlights programme.
BeIN has said: “The Collins Cup will be fantastic entertainment for triathlon fans, so we are thrilled to bring this unique competition to our subscribers in the United States, Canada, and across the Middle East and North Africa.”
