United Arab Emirates-based OTT streaming platform Begin has secured a set of Pakistani streaming rights, through a partnership with digital technology brand Walee, (UAE) to Twenty20 cricket’s Pakistan Super League for the upcoming 2025 season.

Through a deal first reported yesterday by Variety, and disclosed to GlobalData Sport today, Begin (backed by investment vehicle Z2C Limited) will cover the 2025 PSL in Pakistan through a partnership with Walee (which is based in Pakistan).

The 2025 edition of the six-team men’s cricket tournaments begins on April 11 and runs through May 18.

Jonathan Mark, co-founding chief executive at Begin, has said: “The Pakistan Super League is not only Pakistan’s premier cricket tournament but also one of the most recognized T20 leagues globally, attracting top talent from around the world.

“Our collaboration ensures that fans across Pakistan have seamless access to world-class cricket, reinforcing the growing importance of OTT streaming in the region."

Ali Imran Memon, Walee’s senior vice president for creator media, added: “Begin's vision aligns perfectly with ours – to bring immersive sports entertainment to Pakistan’s next-generation digital audience.”

Begin and launched in June 2024, initially securing licensing rights for non-sports entertainment content from the NBCUniversal and Sony Pictures Entertainment media giants.

Its first major sports rights splash came last August, when it secured the Pakistani streaming video-on-demand (SVOD) rights to broadcast English soccer’s elite tier Premier League (EPL) for 2024-25.

Then, in October, it agreed a four-year broadcast deal with US women’s golf’s LPGA.

The PSL, meanwhile, was won by Islamabad United last year.
