Super League Triathlon, the professional international triathlon series, has announced the 2021 circuit will feature major cities as hosts for the first time.
The 2021 Championship Series will comprise events in London in the UK on 5 September and Munich in Germany on 12 September, with the other hosts being Jersey in the Channel Islands on 18 September and Malibu in USA on 25 September.
Michael D’hulst, chief executive of SLT, said: “This is a very significant and exciting day, not just for Super League but triathlon as a whole. Super League Triathlon’s 2021 Championship Series brings us closer to where the fans are and this is what we are about – making triathlon a spectator sport.”
It will be the first time full SLT events are held on the UK mainland and in Germany and the USA.
The London event will be held at West India Quay in the east of the capital, the Munich event at the city's Olympiapark and the Malibu event at Zuma Beach as part of the Malibu Triathlon. Further details and international broadcasters will be revealed in the coming months.
The UK capital is already home to the annual London Triathlon, which features both professional and amateur athletes.
