The ATP, organizer of the top men’s tennis tour, has selected Jeddah in Saudi Arabia as the host city of its Next Gen ATP Finals end-of-season under-21 event between 2023 and 2027.

The announcement follows a “competitive” bid process launched in March 2023 that was handled by professional services heavyweight Deloitte’s sports business group.

The ATP said the process evaluated host cities from multiple regions against criteria including venue, international connectivity, and potential to grow professional tennis in a new market.

This year’s tournament will take place over five days at the King Abdullah Sports City on an indoor hard court from November 28 to December 2, with a record $2 million in prize money on offer.

Since they were first introduced in 2017, the Next Gen ATP Finals had taken place annually every year in Milan, Italy, with the top-ranked eight ATP singles players aged 21 and under competing.

Jeddah’s successful bid, led by the Saudi Tennis Federation, will make it the first official professional tennis event to take place in Saudi Arabia – and as such, the kingdom's first expansion into that sport, after having gradually increased its presence in multiple other sports such as soccer and boxing over the last few years.
