Discovery sets December date for unveiling of global streaming platform
Discovery, the US media giant that owns pan-European sports broadcaster, is to unveil details of its global streaming service on 2 December, the company announced today.
Plans for the launch of the "global streaming service, including the overarching strategy for the platform," will be discussed at an investor event slated for 12pm (ET) on 2 December.
During a quarterly earnings call earlier this month, Discovery chief executive David Zaslav told investors: "We have a definitive path to driving engagement and scale, an unparalleled library of loved brands and personality-driven content, which will support a roster of exclusive and windowed content, all culminating in a platform that is global in focus and local in appeal."
Discovery already operates global streaming platforms in sport, in the shape of GolfTV, the international OTT subscription service, and Global Cycling Network.
