F1 and Topps in multi-year trading card licensee agreement
Motor racing's Formula 1 has entered into a multi-year commercial partnership with Topps, the global collectibles and trading card provider.
Topps, based in New York, USA, becomes the series’ exclusive worldwide sticker and trading card licensee.
The firm will launch a range of physical and digital collections, featuring all 10 teams and 20 drivers from this year’s truncated season, and will also launch ranges of cards and collectibles to celebrate iconic former teams and drivers.
The first Formula 1-specific Topps trading card to be released will celebrate the first career win for Frenchman Pierre Gasly of the AlphaTauri team, at the recent Monza Grand Prix in Italy, and is now available for purchase.
A collaborate sticker album will also be released later in the autumn, which will celebrate the series’ 70th anniversary this season.
Frank Arthofer, Formula 1’s director of digital and licensing, said: “Together with Topps and the teams, we can bring the excitement of Formula 1 to new and existing fans. We share a common vision for increasing how F1 can innovate in the collectibles space, and the launch of Topps official stickers and trading cards will be a key part of that strategy.”
There are currently nine rounds left of the 2020 Formula 1 season, with the next race set for Monza (the second grand prix there on consecutive weekends) on 13 September.
