Media executive Payne departs IMG after 20 years
By Jonathan Rest
Melissa Payne, the experienced IMG Media executive, has left the international sports marketing agency, after two decades.
Payne, who is based in London, said she will take time out of the industry, but will continue to work in the media rights, broadcast and event sector when she returns.
In a LinkedIn post, she said she was "feeling invigorated and very excited about the next chapter."
Payne has served as vice-president, head of technical operations, media rights and distribution for the past five years. She joined IMG in 2000 as director of events coordination and production and project manager from SISLink, the provider of satellite uplink services.
At IMG, she has been overseeing the P&L of the technical services rights and distribution division budget, responsible for all IMG’s global technical spend and income, and for approving all rights deals relating to technical delivery across all its platforms and properties.
As such, she has built up a stellar reputation among event owners and federations, with whom she has negotiated the type of coverage required for a particular event.
