Stats Perform expands United Soccer League partnership
Stats Perform, the international sports data and technology provider, has expanded its partnership with the United Soccer League, the second-tier North American competition, becoming the long-term official betting data rights holder for the USL Championship and League One.
Under the deal, official game, team and player data for over 1,000 USL matches per season will be collected and distributed to licensed sportsbook and odds feed partners though Stats Perform’s RunningBall incident feed and Opta player data services.
The agreement is initially restricted to the USL Championship and USL League One but could be widened to other competitions.
It builds on an existing partnership with Stats Perform already the official data distributor of USL competitions to media and broadcasters.
Stats Perform already has an exclusive global data rights deal with North America's top-tier Major League Soccer and national federation US Soccer that was signed in January.
Lizzie Seedhouse, USL’s senior vice-president of digital and emerging technology and strategy, said: “The USL is exited to partner with Stats Perform as we continue to explore the landscape of sports betting. Though a seemingly ever-changing landscape, the USL’s priority remains quality and integrity of its data, two qualities that Stats Perform carries as a proven leading in this space.
Alex Rice, chief rights officer at Stats Perform, added: “Soccer is the undisputed biggest betting sport in the world, which means hundreds of licenced sportsbooks and millions of bettors trust us to power their entertainment by collecting data with the utmost professionalism and integrity.
“Our data collection team is the best in the world at what they do and we’re delighted to have been selected by the USL to deliver the best possible betting experiences across their competitions.”
Following a coronavirus-enforced delay the 2020 USL Championship and League One seasons will begin on 11 and 18 July respectively.
Other leagues and associations Stats Perform works with include Spain's LaLiga, France's Ligue 1, South America's Conmebol and the AFA, the Argentine football association.
Earlier this week, USL extended and expanded its partnership with international sports data and digital content firm Sportradar to cover integrity services and now audiovisual content.
Specifically, while continuing to monitor and analyse global and domestic betting activity on USL competitions via its Fraud Detection System, Sportradar will disseminate audiovisual content from USL Championship and League One matches to licensed sportsbook operators.
