LiveScore named title sponsor of Saran-backed Czech tennis event
LiveScore, the international sports scores app, has today been unveiled as the title sponsor of a new women’s tennis tournament to take place in the Czech Republic next month.
The LiveScore Cup, which is organised and marketed by Saran Media Group, the Turkey-based agency, and sanctioned by the Czech Tennis Federation, will be held at the Stvanice Stadium in Prague from 3 to 6 June.
LiveScore’s title sponsorship was agreed in partnership with Saran.
The clay-court tournament will see the return of live women’s tennis, headlined by world number three and Czech native Karolina Pliskova (pictured).
The LiveScore Cup will be played under a round-robin format and feature a total of six European players ranked in the top 100, with the field completed by 2019 French Open finalist Marketa Vondrousova, Karolina Muchova, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Barbora Strycova and Kristyna Pliskova.
Tennis fans have been starved of live action since the ATP and WTA, the top men’s and women’s tennis tours respectively, suspended their seasons in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The tournament in Prague will be broadcast live by several European television networks including Premier Sports in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, S Sport in Turkey, Setanta Sports in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region, Sport Klub in the Balkan territories and Max Sport in Bulgaria, with live betting streaming rights to be distributed by Sportradar, the international sports data and digital company.
The LiveScore Cup will feature best-of-three-set matches and two round-robin groups of three players, culminating with a final on 6 June.
Fans will be able to follow the on-court scores and statistics in real-time via either the LiveScore app or online at LiveScore.com.
This represents LiveScore’s second sports sponsorship following the partnership last year with Spanish soccer’s LaLiga to be its official global scoring partner.
Ric Leask, marketing director at LiveScore, said: “We are delighted to be playing a small part in the return of competitive action as title sponsor of the LiveScore Cup. This comes at a time when we are generating significant momentum across the business, and LiveScore Cup is another marker in the sand as sports fans become more familiar with our expanded offering.”
Earlier this week, LiveScore brought in StreamAMG, the video and OTT technology services provider, to enable streaming of live soccer on the platform for the first time.
