McLaren seeks sponsorship sales exec for Americas
McLaren, the Formula 1 motor racing team, has begun the recruitment process for a vice-president of partnership development in the Americas.
The primary focus of this role will be to secure new sponsorship deals for McLaren Racing, based in the UK, and global brands based in the Americas, as the operation looks to increase its activity in that region.
Responsibilities will include executing the company’s wider marketing strategies, driving new business relationships and securing new partnership revenues, maintaining relationships with decision-makers at potential brand partners, and coordinating new business activity.
The successful candidate will have a proven record in sponsorship sales, and a thorough understanding of sports marketing, according to the job advert placed on McLaren’s careers site.
The role could be based anywhere in the US, and the chosen applicant will form part of a team without a centralised headquarters.

McLaren currently has a senior vice president of partnership development in the Americas in Ben Priest.
In a bid to grow its profile in the Americas, McLaren confirmed last summer that it would make a full return to the USA-based IndyCar Series this year, after a 40-year absence.
As part of a strategic partnership with existing IndyCar team Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and Chevrolet, the US car brand owned by General Motors, McLaren has now entered the competition, with the team renamed Arrow McLaren Racing SP.
Elsewhere, McLaren yesterday signed a partnership with Veloce Esports, which will see the operation manage McLaren’s esports team in the future, with the plans including a dedicated academy.
Mark Waller, managing director of sales and marketing at McLaren Racing, said: “Joining forces with an ambitious and forward-thinking company in Veloce is the next significant step to build on the great progress we have already made in the esports category over the last few years.”
