Five European leagues to get North American airing on HockeyTV
Spring Media, the Stockholm-based sports media and marketing agency, has struck a deal with HockeyTech to stream matches from five of the European ice hockey leagues that it represents into North America.
HockeyTech is an Ontario, Canada-based provider of ice hockey technologies, analytics, video and information services, with streaming platform HockeyTV being a key part of its offering.
Under the terms of the agreement with Spring Media, HockeyTV will stream live and on-demand coverage of all games from the Tipsport Extraliga (Czech Republic), Tipsport Liga (Slovakia) and Optibet Hokeja Liga (Latvia), as well as the Synerglace Ligue Magnus and Fédération Française de Hockey sur Glace Division 1, the top two divisions in France.
Spring Media distributes the worldwide media rights to all five leagues.
Stu Siegel, chief executive of HockeyTech, said: “While we have broadcast many European games on HockeyTV on behalf of USA Hockey and Hockey Canada, this is the first time we will be streaming full seasons for European professional hockey leagues.
“We are excited to bring this world-class hockey to our subscribers, while exposing these leagues and teams to North American viewers.”
There are now more than 50 leagues on the HockeyTV platform, with fans able to access all games live and on-demand by subscribing to either a monthly or annual plan.
Tobias Osmund, chief executive of Spring Media, said: “We are delighted to partner with HockeyTech to further increase the visibility of the French, Czech, Slovak and Latvian ice hockey leagues that the Spring Media group represent and distribute worldwide. HockeyTech has an impressive track record when it comes to ice hockey leagues live streaming in North America and we believe they will be the perfect partner in the region to reach a new audience and offer top professional ice hockey action to the fans.”
