ESPN picks up live rights in USA to Korean baseball
Live sport is coming to ESPN in USA, after the Disney-owned cable broadcaster snapped up rights to the Korean Baseball Organisation, the top-tier professional league in South Korea.
The agreement was brokered by Korean media firm Eclat.
The KBO said ESPN will show one game per day, beginning with the 2020 season opener between the Samsung Lions and NC Dinos tomorrow.
The games will be broadcast live, despite the unattractive time difference, with live sport a rarity in the current Covid-19 climate.
The KBO is to stage matches behind-closed-doors and with numerous health measures in place and is confident of staging a full 144-game season, despite starting six weeks later than usual.
