Sky to increase coverage in renewed partnership with NZ Netball
Sky New Zealand, the pay-television giant, will expand its coverage of netball in the country under a renewed sponsorship agreement with Netball New Zealand.
As part of a new long-term deal between the two parties, Sky will extend its broadcast of the sport to include the Beko Netball League, the U18 Netball Championships and the Open Championship, as well as several other youth competitions.
Tex Teixeira, Sky's chief content officer, said it was important to “expose all levels of the game.”
He added: "Sky is committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the game. A healthy game means healthy communities, exciting content and highly engaged fans, players and supporters."
Jennie Wyllie, Netball New Zealand’s chief executive, said the partnership extension with Sky will "help us sustain and nurture the game."
In October, Sky renewed its rights agreement with Netball New Zealand in a deal to 2023 which includes all games of the Silver Ferns, the current world champions, and domestic events such as the ANZ Premiership, the top clubs competition, the National League and national age-group championship matches.
Sky held the rights in New Zealand to the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England, in which the Silver Ferns beat Australia in the final.
