Foxtel to show 2020 IndyCar Series down under
Foxtel, the Australian pay-television operator, has struck a broadcast deal for the 2020 season of US motor racing's IndyCar Series.
The Fox Sports channels will offer all races from the upcoming campaign, including the iconic Indianapolis 500 race on 24 May, as the series returns in earnest to linear TV in Australia.
Australian IndyCar fans had to make do without live coverage in the 2019 season, after ESPN Australia (available through Foxtel) had shown the series previously.
Kayo Sports, the over-the-top Australian streaming service and a subsidiary of Foxtel, will have live-streaming rights.
Scott McLaughlin, the New Zealand-born reigning champion of Australian motor racing’s Supercars Championship, will make his IndyCar debut at the GMR Grand Prix in Indianapolis on 9 May, which will boost Antipodean interest.
Foxtel also holds broadcast rights to Formula 1 and MotoGP, as well as Supercars.
Fox Sports' coverage of the IndyCar Series begins with the first round in St. Petersburg, Florida on 15 March.
