Sport TV nets exclusive rights to Euro 2020 and 2022 World Cup qualifying in Slovenia
Sport TV, the pay-TV sports channel in Slovenia, has landed exclusive rights in the country to the 2020 Uefa European Championships and the national team's qualifying matches for the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
Sport TV will show all 51 matches across its channels from the 12 June to 12 July Euro 2020 tournament, which is being staged across the continent, albeit not in Slovenia.
Slovenia did not qualify for Euro 2020, but will be hoping for better luck when the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers get under way in March 2021. Sport TV will show all of the national team's games.
Sport TV, which acquired the rights from United Media Group, is available in Slovenia via IPTV, cable and satellite providers.
Sport TV director Marko Bogovac said: “From March 2021, we will further enrich European league football at the highest level with exclusive television broadcasts of all matches of the Slovenian national team in the next qualifying cycle for the Fifa World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Sport TV will also accompany all major matches in this cycle with a studio programme to provide our viewers with all the attractions and details regarding our national team on its way to the Qatar World Cup."
RTV Slovenija, the public broadcaster in Slovenia, showed the national team's qualfiers for Euro 2020 and holds rights to its matches in the Nations League following a sub-licencing deal with rights-holder SportKlub, the region's pay-TV broadcaster.
RTV also showed Euro 2016 in Slovenia through its membership of the European Broadcasting Union.
