Team USA and NBC bring in Eli Lilly ahead of Olympics
The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee, in partnership with US media giant NBCUniversal, has agreed one-year partnership with Eli Lilly, the global pharmaceutical brand, to be an official partner of Team USA as it prepares for this year's Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
The USOPC said Eli Lilly will “design an innovative campaign in support of Team USA," which will feature on various platforms of NBC, the rights-holder for the games in USA.
In addition, the company will employ US athletes as brand ambassadors, to raise awareness of various health-related conditions, and collaborate on other marketing projects with the USOPC.
Dan Lovinger, executive vice president of sales at NBC Sports Group, said: “Through this partnership, Lilly will have the opportunity to reach millions of Americans through an abundance of consumer touchpoints, all while supporting the athletes of Team USA.”
Earlier this week, NBC Olympics entered a partnership with video news creator NowThis to produce joint content focused on US athletes in the run-up to Tokyo 2020.
Under the agreement, NowThis will publish athlete-focused short video content, including video profiles, interviews and athlete opinion pieces, which will be distributed across its digital and social media outlets.
Last month, NBC Olympics extended its partnership with social media platform Snapchat to cover this year's games.
