Klingenstein is latest Lagardère director to join Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt, of German soccer's Bundesliga, have returned to the Lagardère Sports agency to strengthen their sales and marketing division, with the hiring of Oliver Klingenstein.
Klingenstein joins as head of sales, ahead of 1 July when Eintracht bring their rights in-house, having contracted Lagardère Sports Germany (along with its forerunner Sportfive Germany) as their commercial agency for the last 15 years.
He was most recently senior director within the winter sports team.
In April, Eintracht brought in Julia Fink as head of strategic partnerships. Fink had spent the previous two and a half years on-site as Lagardère's senior director for Eintracht Frankfurt, in charge of selling the club’s sponsorship rights and hospitality packages.
Last October, Eintracht announced they would handle the sale of sponsorship rights and hospitality packages in-house from the start of the 2019-20 season, having invoked a clause in their contract early last year, and invited tenders from agencies for the rights.
Other recruits to the club's commercial team have included Enricco Saliccia as head of after sales, after almost seven years in sponsorship sales roles at Bundesliga rivals TSG Hoffenheim, and Patrick Daum, a one-time Lagardère employee, to lead international partnerships from Nielsen, the global information and measurement company, where he was a director of consulting.
The team is led by head of sales and marketing Arnfried Lemmle, a former head of sponsorship and sales at Hoffenheim.
Eintracht finished seventh in last season's Bundesliga, narrowly missing out on qualification to the elite Uefa Champions League, and lost in a penalty shoot-out to Chelsea in the semi-finals of the second-tier Europa League.
