DFB Pokal final to kick-off multi-year Nova Sports deal
Nova Sports, the pay-television broadcaster in Greece, has struck a multi-year deal to televise the DFB Pokal, German soccer's knock-out clubs competition, beginning with this weekend's final.
The agreement was brokered by Infront, the Switzerland-based international sports marketing agency that is contracted to market the tournament's international media rights on behalf of the German soccer association.
The 2019 DFB Pokal final between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig takes place in Berlin on Saturday and will be shown in Greece on the Nova Sports 2 channel.
Pay-TV rival Cosmote holds rights to the Bundesliga in Greece until the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
Meanwhile, Nova Sports will also televise Saturday's final of the Copa del Rey, Spain's domestic cup.
The broadcaster has acquired rights direct from the RFEF, the Spanish soccer federation, which markets the final separately from the rest of the competition.
Barcelona and Valencia will contest the Copa del Rey final, which is being played in Sevilla.
The semi-finals of the Copa del Rey were shown in Greece by commercial broadcaster Open TV, formerly Epsilon TV, while Cosmote holds rights to the top-tier LaLiga.
