Influence Sports & Media lands Invictus Games commercial brief
Influence Sports & Media, the UK-based international sports agency, has today been appointed as the commercial agency for the Invictus Games Foundation, the body that oversees the multi-sports event for wounded, injured and sick armed services personnel.
Influence said it will work closely with the foundation and board of trustees to "develop its commercial structure, secure funding and manage partners."
The appointment comes ahead of the fifth edition of the Invictus Games in The Hague in the Netherlands next year, with the foundation noting that the time had come to grow the impact of the event "over the next decade."
Alistair Watkins, chief executive and founder of Influence, said: “The games continue to celebrate the men and women who have served their country and highlight how sport can promote recovery and inspire unity. Since 2014, the Invictus Games has developed into a globally recognised event and we look forward to playing a part in its next phase.”
The project will be spearheaded by Influence's Nathalie Quéré, who is based in Amsterdam and has 20 years of marketing experience working for global brands and corporations.
Dominic Reid, chief executive of the Invictus Games Foundation, said: “It is great to have Alistair and his team on board to support this enormously valuable venture. Given Influence Sports & Media’s experience of working with international sports and leading brands, their expertise will be key to further expanding the Invictus Games Foundation and ensuring a truly lasting legacy.”
The Invictus Games were launched by Prince Harry, the Queen's grandson, with the first edition in London in 2014 having been followed by further events in Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017) and Sydney (2018).
