Motorsport.tv secures exclusive international online rights to Super GT season
Motorsport.tv, the OTT streaming platform of Motorsport Network, the USA-based digital media company, has agreed an exclusive rights deal to stream the remaining rounds of this season's Super GT, the Japanese grand touring car series.
The platform will offer the series live online to an international audience for free, with the exception of Japan, Malaysia and Thailand.
In previous years the series had been streamed to an international audience on the YouTube channel of Nissan, but the company has since axed the channel.
The 2019 series' remaining rounds, beginning tomorrow with the Fuji 500km event, will be streamed live and free on Motorsport.tv in English and French language. There will also be an option for to watch the race on demand later.
Last month Haro Sports, the Malaysian broadcaster, reached its own separate deal with the series.
Motorsport.tv also streams the 2019 Super Formula season, another Japanese motor racing series, meaning it is now building a portfolio of Japanese sporting series and events for international fans to follow.
The Motorsport.tv free-to-air service was launched in late February, and aims to complement the platform's premium service, which is priced at $39.99 per year. Other content on the platform includes the World Endurance Championship, World Superbikes, the Le Mans archive, and Super Formula.
The 2019 Super GT season started in Okayama on 13 April, and ends in Motegi on 3 November.
