London to stage first Fifa eNations Cup next month
London is to host eSports' inaugural Fifa eNations Cup next month, soccer's governing body, has announced.
The new tournament is considered the pinnacle of the EA Sports Fifa 19 Global Series, and will feature 20 national teams from all six confederations. It will be streamed live across Fifa's digital channels on 13 and 14 April.
There will be a prize pool of $100,000 on offer to the teams, and ranking points available to players on the road to the Fifa eWorld Cup 2019.
Fifa said that, following an extensive evaluation and invitation process, the 20 countries confirmed to participate in London are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Russia and USA.
London staged the Fifa eClub World Cup last month.
